Again this year, CCES & the Landscape Recycling Center (LRC) are hosting a Pumpkin Smash (pumpkin composting collection) on Saturday Nov. 2 from 11 AM to 3 PM, at the LRC located at 1210 E. University Avenue in Urbana. If you don’t have a backyard compost pile & want to clear away your jack-o-lantern after Halloween, you can keep your pumpkins & decorative gourds out of the landfill where they would contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Compost them at LRC to make a natural, rich soil amendment!
